I’ve used these performance chips before on my 93 4Runner, and installing them takes unplugging your MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. The ship what will do is “trick” your car’s computer to use less gas by telling that there’s more air coming in (for combustion to take place, oxygen is needed).
From my mechanical point of view, I would NOT recommend this chip on a Prius, just because that car is made under a lot of different specifications than standard 100%-fueled gasoline cars. If you want more out of your Prius, be it performance or gas millage, I recommend you take it to an authorized Toyota dealer or shop. The car hasn’t been that long on the market, which is why I wouldn’t trust these chips.
But, hey, if the seller offers complete warranty and refund, you COULD give it a try… but I would hold myself.
